Most Inspiring Travel Quotes For 2023

Sometimes all it takes is a few words to help push you and pack your bags which will lead to you getting on the first flight to a different time zone. We all want a bit of motivation that can help guide us, and make us feel like the step were about to take now can lead to some sort of happiness or at least a few smiles.

I gathered some of the most inspiring travel quotes and hopefully at least one can help you get that bag out of your cupboard and start packing!

So Without Further Ado, Here We Go

1. Life is short and the world is wide, the sooner you start exploring it, the better. – Simon Raven

I put this quote first as it stuck out a lot to me, especially with recent circumstances. No matter how well we plan the next week we can never know how exactly it will end up, so let’s make the most of life by exploring when we can, with whom we want and spending it how we want rather than committing 60+ hours a week on work and worrying too much.

2. To travel is to discover that everyone is wrong about other countries. – Aldous Huxley

What does travelling mean to you? Do not let the opinion of others stop you from visiting the country you want to go to. I had friends and family telling me how dangerous Brazil is and not to visit it solo but I promise you it was one of the best trips I’ve had to date. Yes, some places are dangerous and some people get unlucky with their trips but try not to let that affect yours.

3. Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference. – Robert Frost

The question is which path would you take? Will you follow the trend or start your own? Will you travel by busses or take a flight to your destination.

Not 1 life is lived twice, so you do you and at the end of the day, they’ll judge you anyway.

4. Better to see something once than hear about it a thousand times. – Asian Proverb

Don’t sit on the sidelines when it comes to telling your own travel story! Experience the destination from your own eyes, be the player on the pitch rather than sitting on the bench.

5. I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake. The great affair is to move. – Robert Louis Stevenson

To travel is to move from destination to destination without holding back. It’s easy to find ourselves stuck in one location as it might be comforting and but let’s not let that stop us from what more there is to see.

6. We may run, walk, stumble, drive, or fly, but let us never lose sight of the reason for the journey, or miss a chance to see a rainbow on the way. – Gloria Gaither

When it comes to travelling you’ll find many obstacles along the way. I’ve lost my wallet, broke my phone, missed a few flights and nearly got beaten up once! but we chose to travel to experience life, the culture and as Gloria said to see a rainbow.

7. A travelling fool is better than a sitting wise person. – Mongolian Proverb

This quote can be misinterpreted but my short definition of this would be: I’d rather use my money for travel and adventure than sit down behind a screen and watch others travelling to the destinations on my list.

8. No one realizes how beautiful it is to travel until he comes home and rests his head on his old, familiar pillow. – Lin Yutang

The more mature we get the more we realise that memories last forever. When I touch down in London Town and go to my flat and sit down to enjoy a hot cup of coffee the first thing I do is reminisce.

9. Once a year, go someplace you've never been before. – Dalai Lama

I’ve been living by this before I even knew it’s been said! Life is way too short to be repeating yourself, I completely understand that it’s easy and comforting to go to the places you’ve been to before but there’s something exhilarating about travelling somewhere new.

10. Travel brings power and love back into your life. ― Jalaluddin Rumi

We’ve all experienced tough times, sometimes the best thing to do is to pack light and get a flight to somewhere where we can just let go, away from the problems, even if it is just for a short period of time.

I googled the term worthwhile and you know what google suggests? See below:

Worthwhile: “worth the time, money, or effort spent; of value or importance.” and I completely agree.

13. There are no foreign lands. It is the traveller only who is foreign. ― Robert Louis Stevenson

We all live on planet earth, under 1 sun and 1 moon. The land, on the other hand, belongs to everyone, it’s us who feels brand new in that different destination from what we’re used to and it takes times settling in but once we do it’s a wonderful feeling.

18. Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. – Terry Pratchett

I mean this is not only a quote but an explanation and I completely agree with this!

19. Time flies. It's up to you to be the navigator. – Robert Orben

The decision to where you want to travel is yours and only yours!

20. The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper. – W.B. Yeats

I know we all want to capture the moment and share it but we have to learn to enjoy the moments without the use of technology and capture it with a memory.

22. 'I'm bored' is a useless thing to say. You live in a great, big, vast world that you've seen non-percent of. – Louis C.K.

Theres always something to do, so saying nothing theres nothing to do is just an excuse.

“Only boring people are bored” so lets not be boring.

23. I haven't been everywhere, but it's on my list. – Susan Sontag

I’m not sure if Susan literally meant everywhere but to me it means don’t stop being you, keep on travelling (if that’s what you want to do) and eventually you’ll live a colourful life with stories to tell and memories that last
